Overview
TorcFit is Straumann’s newest connection and the one most often described incorrectly, so it is worth being precise. It carries a 7 degree cone with a six-position torx index, and it is used on two implants that sit at opposite levels: BLX, which is a bone-level implant, and TLX, which is tissue-level. It is not CrossFit, which belongs to the Bone Level and Bone Level Tapered lines, and the two are not interchangeable. The design’s most useful practical property is that on BLX every implant has the same internal geometry whatever its diameter, so the prosthetic kit does not multiply with the size range - a real simplification for a clinic and, indirectly, for a patient needing a component years later. The cone is tight enough that Straumann supplies dedicated removal tools for abutments that have been fully torqued down, which is a fair indication of how much of the joint’s stability comes from friction rather than from the screw.
