Report an error

A reference database is only as good as its corrections process. If something on this site is wrong, outdated, or misleading, please tell us — whether you are a patient, a clinician, or the manufacturer of the product in question.

How to report

Email [email protected] with:

  • — the page address
  • — the specific statement you believe is wrong
  • — what it should say
  • — where that can be verified, if you have a source

A source is genuinely helpful but not a requirement. "Your page says this implant comes in a 3.0 mm diameter and I do not believe it does" is a perfectly useful report — it tells us where to look.

What happens next

We verify corrections before applying them. We do not accept them automatically, and that includes corrections sent by a manufacturer about its own product — a company is usually the best source on its own specifications, but "the manufacturer asked us to change it" is not by itself a reason to publish something.

In practice we go back to primary documentation, check whether the claim is supported, and then do one of three things: correct the page and update its last-reviewed date; mark the field as unverified if the evidence turns out to be weaker than we thought; or explain to you why we are leaving it as it stands.

Where sources genuinely conflict — which happens more often than you might expect, especially when a product is documented differently in different markets — we say so on the page rather than picking a side. A field in that state is not published to search engines until it is resolved.

If a specification affects patient safety

Say so in the subject line and we will prioritise it. Implant component compatibility is the clearest example: incorrect information about which parts fit which implant can cause real clinical harm, which is why we would rather show nothing than guess.

Takedown and legal enquiries

Legal correspondence should go to the publisher, IDAOPS CONSULTING LTD, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. Registered at Companies House under number 16927251.

We are glad to correct factual errors quickly. We are less inclined to remove accurate, sourced information because it is unflattering, and we will say so if that is what is being asked.
