Overview
Envista is the current owner of Nobel Biocare, and this is the single most commonly out-of-date fact in implant reference material. Danaher completed its takeover of Nobel Biocare in December 2014 and then placed its dental businesses into Envista, which was created in 2018 and separated through an initial public offering in 2019. Anything written before that separation will attribute Nobel Biocare to Danaher, and anything written before 2014 will describe it as independent — both were true once and neither is true now. Envista also owns two value implant brands, Alpha-Bio Tec in Israel and Implant Direct in California, so a patient told they are receiving “an Envista implant” has been told almost nothing about which system was actually used.
