TiPurePlus
Also known as: TiPure Plus, BEGO TiPurePlus
BEGO’s sandblasted and etched implant surface, applied to grade 4 commercially pure titanium and presented by the manufacturer on the basis of the absence of detectable blasting and etching residues.
Key facts
| Manufacturer | BEGO Implant Systems GmbH & Co. KGVerified spec[1] |
|---|---|
| Production process | BEGO describes the surface as created by "sandblasting and etching the implant blank, which is made of Grade 4 commercially pure titanium, using a special, precisely defined technology".Manufacturer-reported[1] |
| Material | Grade 4 commercially pure titanium.Manufacturer-reported[1] |
| Manufacturer-described indication | BEGO states that "surface residues from the blasting and etching process are not detectable" and that the homogeneous surface has a very high protein-binding capacity, which it says has a positive effect on healing time.Manufacturer-reported[1] |
| Geographic availability | BEGO states that all implant systems in the BEGO Semados range feature TiPurePlus, with the exception of the provisional PI-Line.Manufacturer-reported[1] |
| Surface roughness | Manufacturer documentation not located(The BEGO page we read does not give Ra or Sa values or specify the blasting medium.) |
Overview
TiPurePlus is another blasted-and-etched surface, and the interesting thing about it is what BEGO chooses to emphasise. Rather than roughness figures or healing times, the company’s central claim is about cleanliness: that no residue from the blasting grit or the acid remains detectable on the finished surface. That is a real issue rather than a marketing invention - embedded alumina particles from blasting have been a recurring finding in independent analyses of implant surfaces across the industry, and manufacturers differ in how thoroughly they remove them. What BEGO does not publish, at least on the page we consulted, is a roughness value or the identity of the blasting medium, so the surface cannot be placed against others on the usual numeric basis. It is applied across essentially the whole Semados range, so for a patient the choice of a BEGO implant does not involve a choice of surface.
