Overview

Tapered Screw-Vent has been in continuous use long enough that it is one of the implants most often encountered when a patient arrives needing a replacement crown on an old fixture, and its friction-fit internal hex is the identifying feature. Two details cause repeated ordering errors: the ∅ 3.7 mm and ∅ 4.1 mm implants share a single ∅ 3.5 mm platform, so body diameter cannot be inferred from the abutment, and the ∅ 6.0 mm implant is the only one with a 3.0 mm rather than 2.5 mm hex. The catalogue also splits every size across surface configurations — plain MTX, MTX with a machined collar, and versions carrying an MP-1 hydroxyapatite dual transition — which are different products rather than cosmetic options. ZimVie does not state the substrate material in the catalogue reviewed, so it is left unrecorded here.

Popular comparisons

The clearances below are held by ZimVie Dental at brand level and cover its implant range, not Tapered Screw-Vent specifically. We show them here because that is the level at which regulators actually issue them.

Regulatory record

Read this before drawing conclusions. A clearance or certificate means a device may legally be sold in a market. It is not a finding that the implant performs well, and it is not a comparison against other implants. In particular, FDA "clearance" is not FDA "approval" — clearance means the FDA accepted the device as substantially equivalent to one already on the market. What these actually mean →

Clearance records for ZimVie Dental were retrieved from the issuing authority's own database, not from the manufacturer's marketing material. We attribute a clearance to a brand only when the filing holder belongs to that brand's corporate family — third-party clearances for compatible components are excluded, because they belong to the company that made the component, not to ZimVie Dental.
